1605年,一群英格兰天主教极端分子试图炸毁英国国会大厦。“火药阴谋”的目的是杀害詹姆一世和他的大臣并企图恢复天主教。如果这帮天主教徒成功了,“火药阴谋”就会成为当时的九一一袭击事件。如今在烟火节,我们把阴谋策划人(盖伊·福克斯)的假人像放在篝火顶上,庆祝他当场被抓获阴谋没有得逞。
