JOB TITLE:                  Network, Server and Desktop Support Administrator
DEPARTMENT:            IT
Seeking an IT System Administrator to join one of the top 5 leading commercial Chinese banks, London subsidiary
The organization has an extensive network of over 2,800 branches covering over 80 major cities, 7 overseas branches in Hong Kong, New York, Tokyo, Singapore, Seoul, Frankfurt and Macau, and two representative offices in London and Sydney.  Its London subsidiary will be primarily focusing on Wholesale Banking activity including trade finance, treasury, etc. The prospective launch date of this subsidiary is Nov 2011.
 
PURPOSE OF JOB
The Network, Server and Desktop Support Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware (30%) and software (20%) and maintenance of related infrastructure (10%). The role is also required to liaise with external providers for IT equipment (20%), assist in developing user manual (10%) and assist in maintenance of the bank’s business operating system.
 
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Manages and administers various desktop operating systems;
2. Manages and administers local configurations and utilities associated with desktop environment;
3. Assists to install and conduct test on systems and software to ensure their normal operations, including upgrades and fixes
4. Administers Security controls, including management of access, user ID and provision of violation reports
5. Performs proactive server monitoring for the desktop environment;
6. Performs Root Cause Analysis to identify and prevent operational problems;
7. Coordinates the installation of equipment and software necessary to meet the clients’ desktop requirements in the most efficient and cost effective manner;
8. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with the various internal and external support teams;
9. Maintains and manages a working relationship with third party vendors and suppliers;
10. Assists to develop and maintain accurate and up to date procedures and technical documentation;
11. Communicates issues to team lead and regional management

QUALIFICATIONS
·       Bachelor degree in IT or equivalent
·       Certifications of MCSE and CCNA

 SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
·      5 years’ experience in information technology support
·      Solid experience of management of Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange Server, OCS Server and SharePoint Server
·      Good knowledge on TCP/IP and networking management, and the ability to configure Cisco Switch, Router, firewall, wireless device
·      Thorough experience of VMware software
·      Operational experience of maintaining desktop, laptop and office software
·      Experience in finance sector a plus
·      Fluency both in verbal and written communications in Mandarin preferred

Job Description:
This job is to be performed by a Senior Network, Server and Desktop Support Associate. The duties and responsibilities he/she is going to take on this job include, but are not limited to:
 
1. Manages and administers various desktop operating systems;
2. Manages and administers local configurations and utilities associated with desktop environment;
3. Manages data backup and keep record of backup task;
4. Utilizes remote management tools and utilities to diagnose and resolve desktop problems;
5. Performs proactive server monitoring for the desktop environment;
6. Performs Root Cause Analysis to identify and prevent operational problems;
7. Coordinates the installation of equipment and software necessary to meet the clients’ desktop requirements in the most efficient and cost effective manner;
8. Collaborates with other team members and or other groups to plan projects or resolve problems;
9. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with the various internal and external support teams;
10. Maintains and manages a working relationship with third party vendors and suppliers;
11. Ensures effective client services and adapt processes according to client satisfaction feedback and on-going dialog;
12. Creates and maintains accurate and up to date procedures and technical documentation;
13. Communicates issues to team leads, regional, or global management.
 
Core Qualification:
Knowledge:
1. Knowledge of systems and network administration, telecommunications and various types of desktop and server hardware and software;
2. Experience with managing and troubleshooting the Cisco switches and other network equipment.
 
Skills and Abilities:
1. Excellent information technology knowledge with strong problem solving skills;
2. Good people skills, teamwork, and relationship building skills;
3. Excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin, both written and verbal;
4. Expert on MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.) a plus;
5. Ability to supervise and manage a team;
6. Ability to work overtime if required.
 
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree or above on Information Technology or equivalent
2. 5 years experience in information technology support and 2 or more years as a team leader
3. Certifications of MCSE and CCNA
4. Experience in finance sector is a plus
5. Fluent Mandarin

Child and Teenage Actors/Actresses needed for WILD SWANS stage play 

Casting for a stage version of WILD SWANS by Jung Chang for the Young
Vic Theatre (youngvic.org) in London.
Children to play the roles of :-

Er-Hong - a 6 year old girl
Er-Hong - as a young teenage girl
Jian - a 5 year old boy
Jian - as a young teenage boy old boy

Rehearsals would be in London possibly starting mid-December, but definitely during January.Then there would be a break and rehearsals would start again 26th March with performances at the Young Vic from 13th April to 13th May.

Chinese COOKS needed for Channel 4 Cooking Series

Television company called Optomen, are making a Channel 4 cookery series about Chinese cuisine and celebrating great, real Chinese food in Britain.
They are hoping that the show will raise the profile of Chinese culture in the UK - not just in terms of persuading more people to explore what's available but also proving that there's so much more to Chinese food than the occasional sweet & sour takeaway!
